Halogen ballasted mercury lamp
Here is a lamp claiming to be a self ballasted metal halide lamp. However, seemingly no halide salts are in the arc tube, making it a pure mercury discharge. What's also unusual is that the lamp uses a halogen capsule to ballast the arc tube instead of a standard open filament. These are the lamp sleeves, where you can see it is a self ballast meta halide lamp at 250W (not a typo on my end!) It's typical Chinese quality, but quirky enough for me to want to give them a go.

Don't know why they claim it's metal halide. I did send them a message about it once, but they never replied, typical Rolling Eyes

We all know they're mercury, so no harm done to us (except for looking at the operating lamp) Shocked Cool
